A workshop on trade remedies was conducted by the International Trade Centre, in collaboration with the Ceylon Chamber and the Bar Association of Sri Lanka. The workshop focused on how to effectively utilize the Legislation on Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties, and on Safeguard Measures.

Anti-dumping duties, countervailing duties and safeguard measures are mechanisms used to protect domestic industries from adverse effects of unfair trade practices by exporting countries or from sudden surge in imports. By passing these Acts, Sri Lanka now aligns itself with the majority of its fellow World Trade Organisation (WTO) members who also have trade remedy laws.
