Rule 3 : Member

Eligibility – Any Firm, Company, Corporation or individual resident in Sri Lanka and engaged or interested in the general trade of Sri Lanka and willing to aid in carrying into effect the objects of the Chamber shall be eligible for membership of the Chamber.

Right to –

a) attend and vote at meetings of the general membership.

b) be elected to the Chamber Committee.

Privileges –

a) discounted fees for services provided by the Chamber.

b) discounted fees for Chamber events.

c) discounted rates to procure Chamber publications.

d) to be considered to serve on Chamber sub Committees.

e) to receive business information and economic updates.

f) letters of recommendation for overseas business travel visas.

g) priority scheduling for B2B meetings.

h) Chamber intervention for trade complaints.

i) advice on all trade related matters.

j) identify as “a member of the Ceylon chamber of Commerce” on your website and marketing material.

Fees (NBT + VAT payablae in addition) – Entrance fee Rs. 75,000/= + Annual subscription- Rs. 200,000/= + Applicable taxes

Rule 4 : Member

Eligibility – Any Firm, Company, Corporation or Individual, resident in Sri Lanka and engaged or interested in the general trade of Sri Lanka and willing to aid in the carrying into effect the objects of the Chamber.

Admission by – Election of the membership, upon application made.

Privileges – all privileges of membership.

Fees (NBT + VAT payablae in addition) – Entrance fee Rs. 20,000/= + Annual subscription- Rs. 97,000/= + Applicable taxes

Rule 6 : Patron Member

Eligibility – At any time after admission as a member of the Chamber, a member may inform the Secretary General of the desire to be recognized as a Patron member and such member shall, upon making the Patron Member subscription, be recognized as a Patron member and shall thereupon be entitled to such special privileges as may be determined by the Committee for Patron Members in addition to the rights and privileges of a member.

Privileges – All privileges of membership. and Special privileges determined by the Committee.

a) coordinate one-to-one meetings with politicians, diplomats or government officials, upon request.

b) a specific Key Account Manager at a senior level from the Chamber nominated for each organization.

c) display company name on the Chamber membership board in the lobby area.

d) have a link on the Chamber website to your organisation website.

e) opportunity to post a brief write-up on the company, in the Chamber “Enterprise” magazine.

f) list under a separate category in the Annual Report of the Chamber.

Fees (NBT + VAT payablae in addition) – Entrance fee Rs. 100,000/= + Annual subscription- Rs. 300,000/= + Applicable taxes

Rule 9 : Associate Member

Eligibility – Any Firm, Company, Corporation or Individual, resident in Sri Lanka and engaged in or interested in the general trade of Sri Lanka and willing to aid in the carrying into effect the objects of the Chamber and

a) whose annual turnover is less than Rs. 25 Million and

b) the number of employees in permanent employment is less than fifty (50).

Conditions – an Associate member is permitted to retain the Associate membership only for a maximum period of three years and shall be admitted as a member of the Chamber if all the requirements for membership are satisfied.

Rule 7 : Honorary Members

Eligibility – Persons distinguished in commerce, art, finance or administration or who shall have rendered to the Chamber services that the Chamber Committee considers to be of a special nature.

Admission by – Resolution adopted by the membership at a general meeting of the Chamber);

Privileges – All privileges of membership. Not required to pay entrance fee or subscription.

Fees (NBT + VAT payablae in addition) – No fees are payable

Rule 7(a) (i) : Overseas Members

Eligibility – Any Firm, Company, Corporation or Individual, resident outside Sri Lanka and engaged in exporting goods, services or technology to Sri Lanka or in making investments in Sri Lanka, and is willing to aid in the carrying into effect the objects of the Chamber.

Admission by – Election of the general membership

Privileges – All privileges other than the right to vote, to requisition meetings, to be appointed/elected to the Committee, to hold office in the Chamber as a member of the Committee or as an office bearer of the Chamber or as a member of a sub committee of the Chamber.

Rule 7(b)(i) : Affiliated Members

Eligibility – A Chamber of Commerce having objects which are not in conflict with or contrary to the objects of the Chamber, consisting of members who are engaged in trade or industry in Sri Lanka or being situated in a foreign country is composed of members who are engaged in trade with Sri Lanka or otherwise interested in exchanging information or collaborating with the Chamber

Admission by – Election of the general membership

CHAMBER MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS

Re: applicant / organisation

■ Company should be in business for a minimum period of one year from the date of incorporation.

■ The application and connected documents are attached.

■ The Application must be completed and forwarded to the Chamber. The processing time of the Application will be approximately four to seven weeks.

Re: application forms

■ Complete all details requested for in the application form and hand over with audited accounts of the immediate past two financial years and copy of the certificate of incorporation, memorandum of Articles, Form 20 listing the Directors of the company etc. The company should be registered under the Companies Act 7 of 2007.

■ Get the application (“Certificate”) signed by two member Companies of the Chamber, as a proposer and seconder (either by the Chairman / CEO / MD of the relevant Company with their official rubber stamps) which is of an absolute necessity. A list of Chamber members will be provided for this purpose, along with the application. When doing so, the valid organisation would have to select a member of not less than five years as a member of the Chamber, out of which the proposer should be in the same line of business as the applicant.

Cost of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce current membership is Rs. 200,000.00/- + applicable taxes per year. The membership fee of the Chamber is subject to revision on an annual basis. The current entrance fee is Rs. 75,000/- + applicable taxes. Cheque in payment of the total amount should be submitted along with the application.
