President to Inaugurate the Sri Lanka Economic Summit – Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya to Chart the Path for Sri Lanka’s Digital Economy

The Sri Lanka Economic Summit, the premier and most anticipated annual economic event in Sri Lanka, organised by The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, will be inaugurated by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, under the theme Shaping Sri Lanka’s Future: Transformational Growth Rooted in Sound Economic Policies on 28th January at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo.

As a key feature of the inauguration, President Dissanayake will engage in a Fireside Chat on the vision for sustainable economic development, with the Deputy Vice Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber Mr. Bingumal Thewarathanthri. The Ceylon Chamber’s leadership including Chairman Mr. Duminda Hulangamuwa and Vice Chairman Mr. Krishan Balendra will also be in attendance, with Mr. Duminda Hulangamuwa delivering the Opening Remarks at the inauguration.

The opening session of Day 2 on 29th January will feature a Fireside Chat with Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy. The discussion on ‘Shaping Sri Lanka’s Digital Economy Roadmap’, will focus on strategies to accelerate digital transformation and advance Sri Lanka’s digital landscape, and will be moderated by Mr. Bhanuka Harischandra – Founder of Surge Global.

The Summit will explore the right policies to be implemented in achieving an export-led investment model, focusing on leveraging Sri Lanka’s strategic location, its access to rapidly growing regional markets, and the necessary domestic reforms to unlock key export sectors. Breakout sessions will focus on Tourism, Agriculture, and Value-Added Manufacturing.
